Once Upon a Time in Friedrichshain was photographed over the course of a long weekend in Berlin back in 2013. The plan was to explore the city solo with my camera, but as these things often go, it turned into something completely different. A friend I hadn’t seen in eight years offered me a place to stay, and then another mate joined me from Oslo — suddenly, it wasn’t just a photo trip, it was a reunion.
We didn’t cover a huge distance, but we saw plenty — and, admittedly, lost a bit of time at Berghain. The images capture those in-between moments: the neighbourhood streets, the textures, the traces of everyday Berlin life. I’ll be back one day to continue this series.
Big thanks to Tiger Dot and Monsieur Blevins for making that weekend what it was.

Shot on a Mamiya RZ67 using Kodak Portra film.
